FAQ & Policies

Ordering & payment

How do I actually buy something?

Fill in the order form with the pieces you'd like. Nothing is charged at that moment. We reply within one to two days confirming your items, the final total and how long it will take. Once you say yes, we make it and arrange pickup.

How do I pay?

Interac e-Transfer, or cash when you collect. We'll send e-Transfer details in the confirmation email. We never ask for card numbers, and this website never collects them.

For made-to-order pieces over $50 we may ask for half up front to cover the yarn, with the rest due at pickup. We'll always say so before you commit.

When is payment due?

For pieces marked Ready now, at pickup. For made-to-order pieces, we ask for payment once your piece is finished and photographed, before we meet.

How long will my piece take?

Anything marked Ready now is already finished. Made-to-order pieces usually take one to three weeks depending on size — the exact estimate is on each product page, and we'll confirm a date in writing before starting.

If you need something for a specific date, say so in the order form. If we can't make the date, we'll tell you rather than rush it.

Pickup

Where do I collect my order?

At a public spot in our area that we agree together — usually a library, community centre or shopping centre entrance. We don't publish an address and we don't do pickups from our home. A parent handles every pickup.

Do you ship?

Not yet — local pickup only for now. If you're outside the area, write to us anyway. Knowing where people are asking from is how we'll decide when to add shipping.

What if I can't make the pickup time?

Just let us know and we'll find another. If we can't manage to meet within 30 days of your piece being ready, we'll refund an undelivered order and put the piece back in the shop.

Returns & refunds

The short version: if it arrives damaged or isn't what we described, tell us within 7 days and we'll fix it, remake it, or refund it. Custom pieces made specially for you can't be returned for a change of mind, because they can't be sold to anyone else.

Something is wrong with my piece

Contact us within 7 days of pickup with a photo. If the piece is faulty, damaged, or materially different from its description, we'll repair it, remake it, or give you a full refund — your choice. We cover this at our cost.

I changed my mind

Ready-made pieces: return it unused and in its original condition within 7 days of pickup for a full refund.

Made-to-order and custom pieces: these are final sale, because they were made specifically for you and can't be offered to anyone else. You can cancel free of charge any time before we start — we'll always tell you when that is.

My piece wore out

Handmade things can be mended. If a seam opens or a stitch pulls within the first 3 months, bring it back and we'll repair it free. After that we'll still happily repair it, we'll just ask for the cost of the yarn.

How are refunds sent?

By Interac e-Transfer to the address you paid from, within 5 business days of us receiving the piece back or agreeing the refund.

Toy safety

Not suitable for children under 3 years. Plush pieces, charms and keyrings contain small parts — safety eyes, beads, buttons, ribbons — which are a choking hazard for young children. These are handmade decorative items and are not tested toys.

Can you make something safe for a baby?

Yes. Ask for the embroidered features version — no safety eyes, no beads, no buttons, no ribbon, and everything stitched into the fabric. Say so in the order form and we'll make it that way at no extra cost.

Are these washable?

It depends on the piece — the care instructions are on every product page. As a rule, plush friends get a surface wipe only, cotton items (pouches, coasters, charms) can be gently hand washed, knitted pieces are washed cold and reshaped while damp, and everything dries flat, never in a dryer.

What are things made of?

Mostly acrylic and cotton yarns, with polyester fibre fill in the stuffed pieces. Exact materials are listed on each product page. If you have a wool allergy, tell us and we'll confirm what a piece is made from before you order.

Custom orders

What can you make?

Existing pieces in different colours or sizes, matching sets, name tags stitched onto a purse, and characters worked out from a photo. Clara both knits and crochets, so it's worth asking either way. We'll say honestly if something is beyond what we can do well rather than take the order and disappoint you.

How does a custom order work?

Describe what you'd like on the contact form. We'll come back with a price and a timeline. If you're happy, we ask for half up front to cover yarn, send you a photo when it's finished, and collect the balance at pickup.

Custom pieces are final sale once we've started.

Do you do markets, fairs or bulk orders?

Yes — school fairs, craft markets, party favours and class sets are all welcome. Give us as much notice as you can and we'll tell you what's realistic.

About the shop

Who makes these?

Clara, a young maker, at her kitchen table. She was taught to knit stitch by stitch by a neighbour, and learned to crochet after that. The purses are finger-knitted — worked with her hands rather than needles, which is what gives them their chunky springy ribbing — and the plush friends are crocheted. Every product page says which. Orders, email, payment and pickup are all handled by a parent, so you're always dealing with a grown-up for anything commercial. Read her story.

Do prices include tax?

Prices shown are the prices you pay. We are a very small shop and are not currently registered to collect GST/HST.
